(COLUMBUS, OH, Nov. 21, 2017) – Thanksgiving dinner came early for the lions at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium when Nat Geo WILD set up a formal table with all the trimmings during a Facebook Live event on Tuesday, Nov. 21. As a special holiday-themed twist on the lions’ daily enrichment activities, the pride was let loose in its habitat to gobble up a beautifully set meal that would make your grandmother proud.
She wouldn’t like that the lions climbed on the table, growled at each and made off with the plates, but it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without a little drama. Nat Geo WILD worked with the zoo’s lion experts to create an engaging and educational event to help promote the return of the global miniseries event Savage Kingdom: Uprising, premiering on Friday, Nov. 24, at 9/8c on Nat Geo WILD.
Viewers were encouraged to participate in real time through Facebook reactions using the like/love options and watched the votes tally up. Zoo lion experts were also on hand to provide real-time insight and reply to user comments and questions.
